Hydrogen power in real life: clean and energy efficient
Since 2009, a hydrogen powered street cleaning vehicle has been undergoing testing on the streets of Basel. The project is intended to take hydrogen drives out of the laboratory and onto the streets in order to gain experience on using them under practical conditions. The result of the pilot trial: hydrogen as a fuel for municipal utility vehicles saves energy, is environmentally friendly and is technically feasible. In order to make it cost-effective, however, the prices of fuel cells, pressurized storage tanks and electric drives must all drop significantly.

New Holland NH2 Fuel Cell Tractor Heads for the Farm

Ironically enough, the first fuel cell vehicle was not the 1966 GM Electrovan as many people believe. Instead the first fuel cell vehicle was actually a 1959 Allis-Chalmers farm tractor. So, it’s not odd at all that New Holland would pick up where Allis-Chalmers left off over half a century ago. he upgraded New Holland NH2 has twice the power and torque as the 2009 version. The fuel cells have gone from putting out 67 hp to 135 hp.

Plan for UK generating plant using coal gasification, CCS, hydrogen and fuel cells

Three British companies: B9 Coal, Powerful Power Ltd and AFC Energy, having signed a "binding letter of intent" to build a fuel cell power station near Doncaster, UK. Powerfuel Plc operates a colliery near Doncaster, and is planning to build an 800 mW integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power station with carbon capture adjacent to it.

Horizon’s hydrogen fuel cells propel Singapore teams to victory at Shell Eco-Marathon Asia

SINGAPORE – July 11, 2011- A new breed of high-efficiency hydrogen fuel cells designed by Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies has propelled two student teams from Singapore, NUS and Ngee Ann Polytechnic, to the regional champions' podium at the Shell Eco-marathon Asia.

Singapore-built hydrogen cars take 1st place in both prototype and urban concept categories

Singapore-built hydrogen cars take 1st place in both prototype and urban concept categories

The high-profile event took place July 6-7 at the F1 circuit in Sepang, Malaysia, and brought together 94 student teams from 12 countries all over Asia. It challenges youth to design and build energy efficient vehicles that travel the farthest distance using the least amount of fuel.  The E-Mobility Class Hydrogen Award was won by the Ngee Ann Polytechnic in the Prototype category and by the National University of Singapore in the Urban Concept category. The NP-Distanza Proto team from the Ngee Ann Polytechnic set a new record in its class of 84.9 km/kWh.
